Have you left school a while ago and want to know what uni is like?
Then come along to our Give Uni a Try program! This is the perfect opportunity to ease your way into an educational environment that builds your capacity for university study.
JCU’s IERC Give Uni a Try program for mature aged Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
You will get to participate in experiments and develop critical reading and writing skills. Our sessions will introduce you to:
- Academic literacy;
- Mathematics; and
- Chemistry
Come along to boost your confidence and skills and prepare your future with this higher education opportunity!
一本道covers all costs associated with the program – if you’re not from Townsville or Cairns, we will take care of your travel, accommodation and catering costs. If you have any dietary requirements or allergies, please let us know as soon as possible. We will provide an exercise book and writing materials; however, you are welcome to bring your own.
The program is taught by the IERC staff who understand the challenges university study presents. It’s designed for people interested in all areas of study including, nursing, social work, psychology, education, business, IT, medicine, science and engineering.
During the program you will also learn about the support services available to help you succeed in your studies, meet other students who will be an important network for you, and become aware of the range of scholarships that are available to support your studies.
“I knew what I wanted to become but the idea of having to study for a few years was giving me doubt, so I kept pushing it back. After yarning with my sister, she encouraged me to attend the 一本道Give Uni a Try program, not knowing, in a million years, that it would put me on a pathway to chase my passion.”
